Motability which operates the UK’s largest automotive fleet insists scheme customers proceed to get the very best value deals – at 48% cheaper than industrial leasing alternatives – at a time when the market is very unpredictable.

Its latest price list until the tip of September incorporates a wide selection of recent EV models from various manufacturers several of which require no up front payment, including:

  • Renault Megane e-Tech, EV60 160kW Evolution Comfort Range 60kWh, with a driving range as much as 280 miles.

  • Jeep Avenger, 115kW Summit 54kWh  with a driving range as much as 249 miles.

“By forging close collaborations with the industry, including automotive manufacturers and dealers, Motability Operations keeps prices as little as possible,” it said.

With manufacturers are prioritising the production of EVs to fulfill the Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) mandate, it noted that while there are fewer petrol and diesel cars available in the brand new automotive market, customers who aren’t ready to change to an EV can still go for petrol and diesel vehicles offered by Motability.

It said that while increasing costs of insurance, servicing and maintenance means will remain affordability challenges, its three-year leasing package, which incorporates insurance, breakdown assistance, servicing, maintenance, tyres and windscreens, represents value for money.

Andrew Miller, chief executive of Motability Operations said: “Because the UK’s biggest automotive buyer, we will leverage our scale to navigate the industry pressures and drive affordability for our customers. By collaborating with our scheme partners, we’re still in a position to offer our customers great value for money in our latest price list.”

Motability can be focussing on driving EV adoption through several initiatives. The organisation has recently launched its Go Charge app to enhance paying for public EV charging and in the house, it’s working with Ohme to put in home chargepoints. Moreover, it’s working with CALLUM to develop a new-generation electric wheelchair-accessible vehicle concept.

The brand new price list from the Motability Scheme runs from 1 July-30 September and specific models are subject to availability.

Andy Broadfield shall be joining the business from Direct Line Group (DLG) in November, as managing director of electrical and insurance to spearhead the corporate’s electrification strategy and develop the client insurance experience.

Andrew Miller, CEO of Motability Operations, said Broadfield’s background in innovation and EV expertise, coupled together with his comprehensive understanding of its insurance operations, shall be invaluable.

“Andy’s leadership will undoubtedly enhance our continued commitment to providing exceptional customer experiences and sustainable solutions.”

Broadfield will deal with developing the scheme’s lease model as the corporate’s EV fleet grows, ensuring customers proceed to get the very best experience in a volatile market. “Working with the numerous EV industry pioneers, we’ll deliver modern solutions to make them more accessible and inexpensive for our customers,” he said.

Broadfield can even lead the corporate’s insurance operations, specializing in improving the client experience whilst maintaining the exceptional value the present leases offer.

Tim Harris, who has been overseeing insurance on a part-time basis, will transition to a brand new role chairing the corporate’s insurance business, providing oversight of each DLG and Isle of Man operations.
