As indicated previously, Malaysia is about to lift the biodiesel mix rate in Peninsular Malaysia from B10 to B15 ranging from tomorrow, June 1. The brand new biodiesel mix might be produced by 19 licensed production plants, which have a combined monthly capability of 1.5 million litres, across the country. The switch to B15 (which was earlier said to segue in from an initial B12) isn’t…
Proton has announced that it’s expanding the operational capability of its recent electric vehicle (EV) assembly plant in Tanjung Malim. The national automaker said the expansion plan, for which an investment of RM37 million has been allocated, comes nine months after the power began operations and follows on the strong market demand for its eMas models. Launched last September, the RM82 million EV factory, which sits on a 5.57-acre site inside Proton’s complex in Tg Malim, has a primary phase capability of 20,000 units each year, however the planned expansion will take the power’s annual production capability to 42,000 units.…
Transport minister Anthony Loke has instructed the land public transport agency (APAD) to take maximum punitive motion against Prasarana Malaysia following the derailment of a LRT train on the Ampang-Sri Petaling Line earlier today. In an announcement, he said that the transport ministry viewed the train derailment, which occurred near the Chan Sow Lin station, as a really serious incident since it was not only a standard service disruption. Although all 25 passengers within the incident were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, he said a derailment posed a high safety risk to everyone. As such, he said the…
The federal government is currently studying the implementation of a diesel subsidy using a mechanism just like that for Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) scheme for petrol, said communications minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, reiterating the outline that was indicated in April. He said the matter was considered one of foremost focal points being deliberated by the cupboard amid ongoing discussions on targeted fuel subsidies, as The Star reports. “Right away, the federal government is examining issues related to diesel, including implementing diesel subsidies using a system just like Budi95,” he said following a cupboard meeting earlier today. While motor insurance stays the final insurance industry’s largest line of business in Malaysia, contributing RM10.9 billion – or 45.2% of total premiums – in 2025, the segment continued to post underwriting losses, with RM289.3 million recorded last 12 months. At a combined ratio of 103%, this reflects that claims payout exceeded premiums collected, said the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM). The rising variety of claims and the severity of those were concerns noted by the association at a media briefing on the industry’s performance earlier this week. It said that the claim frequency for personal cars remained above…
Prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says that the difficulty of allegedly strict conditions being imposed on electric vehicle (EV) corporations shall be brought up for discussion with the ministry of investment, trade and industry (MITI), Bernama reports. This comes following Perak tourism, industry investment and corridor development committee chairman Loh Sze Yee’s remarks yesterday, where he said that the federal government must reassess the conditions imposed on EV corporations planning to establish factories within the country. Loh said there have been concerns about several policies that were too stringent and will undermine foreign investor confidence, thus damaging the country’s…

As highlighted previously, the bottom turbocharged S is gone, and the turbo E has been replaced by an e:HEV hybrid for a similar grade, making the CR-V the primary Honda vehicle to feature two hybrid variants in a single model range locally. The e:HEV E, which is priced…
