Audi Australia is recalling over 100 examples of its plug-in hybrid Q5 as its high-voltage battery poses a fireplace risk.
“Because of a producing issue, the modules installed within the high voltage battery could also be defective,” the corporate says in its recall notice.
“During charging a thermal overload could lead to a vehicle fire.
“A vehicle fire could increase the chance of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.”

“Note: Please don’t charge the high-voltage battery using an external charging source. As well as, Audi request that owners don’t use the e-tron modes ‘Battery charge’ and ‘Battery hold’,” the recall notice reads.
“These measures are required for the security of the vehicle. Owners may proceed using their vehicle so long as they follow these restrictions.”
Audi Australia advises it’ll contact owners once the software update is accessible.
