Wheels announced joining and committing to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative — a voluntary initiative for developing, implementing, and disclosing responsible business practices.
Wheels joins other leading global firms committed to taking responsible business motion to affect the world positively.
The UN Global Compact calls for firms all over the place to align their operations and methods with ten universally accepted human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption principles and to take motion in support of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the biggest corporate sustainability initiative on this planet, with greater than 20,000 firms based in over 160 countries and greater than 60 Global Compact Networks.
“Joining the UNGC is one other step that demonstrates Wheels’ commitment to conducting business in a responsible way,” Shlomo Crandus, Wheels’ CEO, said.
“The UNGC principles align well with our values and programs we have already got in place, like EcoWheels, our fleet sustainability program, which helps us tailor solutions and products to satisfy our clients’ unique needs. The principles provide a framework that may support our efforts to advance sustainable, responsible corporate practices that empower and profit our Wheels community,” Crandus continued.
Wheels’ Commitment to a Greener Future
In keeping with Wheels’ Corporate Responsibility insights page, the corporate has reduced 429 million kilos of carbon through sustainable vehicle implementation.
Along with joining the United Nations Global Compact, Wheels has recently achieved:
- Consolidated workplace footprint from two Illinois locations to at least one, choosing a LEED Platinum-certified constructing, the best rating from the U.S. Green Constructing Council.
- Grew existing sustainable vehicle program, EcoWheels, to encompass nearly 70,000 sustainable vehicles in 2023. Sustainable vehicle options include battery electric vehicles (BEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and hybrid vehicles that support diverse fleet functions and business priorities.
- Introduced a brand new worker volunteer program, offering paid day off for worker volunteer activities with approved 501(c)3 organizations. Wheels employees participated in nearly 200 hours of volunteer work through this initiative within the greater Chicago and Atlanta metro communities.
