Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is marking the tenth 12 months of London Craft Week through an exhibition of the posh automobile brand’s incredible craftmanship at its flagship outlet in Mayfair.
The Berkeley Street dealership, a part of AM100 group HR Owen, can have window displays of unique pieces demonstrating the posh carmaker’s abilities in bespoke, tailored features from May 13 to 19.
For this 12 months’s event, the marque has taken inspiration from London, home to among the most famous luxury locations on this planet, lots of which themselves are marvellous examples of design and architecture.
“Craftsmanship lies on the very heart of Rolls-Royce with creativity nurtured at every turn. As a brand synonymous with perfection and craftsmanship, London Craft Week – a celebration of the highest of British craftsmanship – is a very necessary occasion in our annual calendar,” said Boris Weletzky, regional director – UK, Europe, and Central Asia, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
“For the tenth anniversary of the event, I’m delighted that our highly talented artisans from the house of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood have created a shocking portfolio of bespoke craftsmanship.”
LONDON BONNET
For this 12 months’s event, artisans from the marque’s exterior surface centre have drawn inspiration from the famous haunts of London to create a real murals: a map of London presented on the magnificent canvas of a Rolls-Royce Phantom bonnet. This bespoke bonnet, which features over 20 coats of paint and took over 100 hours to finish, features a concentrate on Mayfair, the house of the exhibition, and a singular interpretation of a few of London’s most recognisable landmarks, while it was finalised with a sign-written ‘London’ motif and the careful application of gold leaf highlights.
LONDON ICONS DOOR CARD
Interior trim centre experts created a vibrant door card for the event. With a singular perforated artwork – in total this door card encompasses a staggering 7,700 perforations – it includes Turchese leather covered with a layer of Scivaro Grey which, when perforated, reveals the Turchese undercolour, conjuring the impression of an aerial view of the River Thames. On the opposite side of the door, a vivacious Lime Green leather has been chosen as the bottom leather color, uncovered only when tiny perforations within the Scrivaro Grey overcoat create a up to date yet abstract expression of town’s world-famous architecture.
PICNIC TABLE
Continuing the London theme, Rolls-Royce’s specialists working in the inside surface centre have created a wonderful picnic table that celebrates among the city’s most famous buildings. To create this special picnic table, one highly expert artisan spent over 50 hours cutting, pressing and assembling perfectly tessellated pieces before the picnic table was lacquered.
