PLUS Malaysia and Yinson GreenTech Malaysia (YGT), through their respective subsidiaries Terra PLUS and Green EV Charge, have announced the signing of a three way partnership agreement to develop and operate integrated retail and electrical vehicle charging hubs at chosen locations along the North-South Expressway (NSE).

This follows on the MoU signed back in June 2023, through which each parties signaled their intention to work together on developing a quick charging hub along the PLUS highway. Because it was previously, the JV agreement was inked by PLUS MD Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaafar and YGT CEO Lim Chern Yuan.

Likewise, the placement, with the businesses indicating that the primary development can be on the Seremban RSA (southbound). The hub is anticipated to be ready by 2027, which is a shift from the unique intention of getting it up and running by 2024.

Through the JV, PLUS will lead the event and management of the hub’s business retail and F&B components, whilst YGT can be accountable for the installation, operation and management of EV chargers. The businesses said that the hub will differentiate itself from other EV charging infrastructure by offering a whole stopover experience, mixing reliable, DC fast chargers with a vibrant retail and F&B experience.

There was no mention of the technical facets of the chargers within the JV announcement, but YGT had previously mentioned through the 2023 MoU signing that the hub would feature eight charging bays, each with a Level 3 DCFC having an influence output of as much as 350 kW, allowing an acceptable EV to be fully charged in as little as 20 minutes. It shouldn’t be known if the design of the hub has been revised from that penned originally.

Moreover, it was also indicated back then that a second hub was being planned, with this one being positioned at Ayer Keroh RSA (northbound). This was also presupposed to be ready by 2025, but given the brand new timeframe mentioned for the Seremban hub, it stays to be seen when this project can be accomplished.
