In response to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), a complete of 68,007 vehicles were sold to customers within the month of May 2025. This represents a 12.4% increase from the month of April 2025, which saw 60,527 units delivered.
The association said in its release that the rise is resulting from the upper variety of working days in May in comparison with April. Other reasons include the continued strong promotion activities by corporations in addition to deliveries of vehicles from bookings collected in the primary quarter of the yr.
On a year-over-year (YoY) basis, the May 2025 total is down 3% in comparison with May 2024 (70,254 units). As for the year-to-date figure, the primary five months of 2025 saw 316,737 units sold, which is a decrease of 5% from the 333,309 units reported for a similar period in 2024.
Production also saw a decline, with 65,970 units produced in May 2025, down 12% from May 2024 (74,609 units). YTD production in 2025 currently stands at 299,886 units, also a 12% decrease from the corresponding period last yr that saw 342,344 units produced.
For the month of June 2025, the association expects sales to be lower than in May 2025 resulting from the recent Hari Raya Aidiladha that saw major makes shut down their plant for every week.
