Evans Halshaw has opened its eighth BYD franchise point, expanding its footprint with the fast-growing electric vehicle brand while retaining Ford aftersales support on the identical site.
Evans Halshaw was the primary retailer to open BYD dealerships within the UK, launching BYD Birmingham and BYD Milton Keynes in March 2023, followed by locations in Chesterfield, Milton Keynes, Rotherham, Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton and Mansfield.
The retailer said the move reflects rising consumer demand for electric mobility and forms a part of its wider technique to grow with BYD across key regions.
The Bury site will sell BYD’s electric and plug-in hybrid range, including the Seal U DM-i plug-in hybrid and the Dolphin Surf and Atto 3 battery electric models, offering test drives, servicing and aftersales support.
Alongside the brand new BYD sales operation, Evans Halshaw confirmed the positioning will proceed as a Ford Authorised Repairer, maintaining manufacturer-approved servicing, maintenance and repair facilities for existing Ford customers. The retailer said the transition will retain the positioning’s 34 staff.
Robert Hamilton, market area director of Evans Halshaw BYD, said: “Opening our eighth BYD location represents one other essential milestone in our partnership with the brand and our wider commitment to supporting EV vehicles.
“The evolution of this site allows us to bring BYD’s progressive electric vehicles to much more customers, while continuing to support our valued Ford customers through authorised aftersales services. It’s a robust example of how we’re adapting our network to fulfill changing customer needs.”
