U.S Regional Gasoline Prices as of April 13, 2026
Gas prices hold regular at $4.07 nationally, but rising geopolitical tensions and regional spikes—especially on the West Coast—signal more pain on the pump may very well be imminent.
In keeping with GasBuddy data compiled from greater than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country, the national average for fuel has remained unchanged during the last week at $4.07 per gallon.
That is up 39.1 cents per gallon from a month ago and 93.4 cents per gallon higher than a 12 months ago.
“Average gasoline prices surged for a lot of Americans through the primary half of last week before easing in some areas after oil prices slipped following President Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum evaluation at GasBuddy. “Nonetheless, with a breakdown in talks and renewed escalation over the weekend, motorists should prepare for one more round of price increases. The move toward a full blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is compounding global supply concerns and risks further disrupting flows, which pushed oil prices sharply higher in Sunday night trading. In consequence, gasoline prices are prone to jump again this week, with diesel expected to follow, until there’s a meaningful restoration of shipping through the Strait.”

U.S Regional Gasoline Prices as of April 6, 2026

Gas prices surge past $4 as geopolitical tensions and rising wholesale costs push fuel averages higher nationwide, with the West Coast seeing the steepest prices.
In keeping with GasBuddy data compiled from greater than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country, the national average for fuel has risen by 11.8 cents during the last week to $4.08 per gallon.
That is up $65.1 cents from a month ago and $85.0 cents lower per gallon higher than a 12 months ago.
“Gasoline prices are poised for one more jolt this week, with many inland states — including the Plains, Great Lakes, and parts of the Rockies — prone to see sharp increases as last week’s surge in wholesale costs has yet to be fully passed through to consumers,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum evaluation at GasBuddy. “As well as, some price-cycling markets could also see one other round of increases. In consequence, the national average could rise by double digits, potentially reaching the $4.20 to $4.35 per gallon range in the times ahead. Diesel prices proceed to climb and now sit just 25 cents away from a brand new all-time record. Recent escalations between the U.S. and Iran have further intensified concerns about prolonged disruptions to global oil flows, keeping markets on edge. At this point, the trajectory of fuel prices stays highly uncertain and is basically contingent on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Until that happens, the danger of further increases stays firmly in place.”
