The GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV now has the identical interior as its more conventionally shaped Haval H6 PHEV sibling, while still boasting more power and range.
First spied testing by CarExpert in January, the updated Haval H6 GT PHEV is out there in Australian showrooms now. It continues in a single Ultra trim, priced at $52,990 drive-away.
While externally it looks unchanged, inside there’s a brand new dashboard – shared with the updated Haval H6 range launched last yr – with a bigger touchscreen.
This 14.6-inch touchscreen runs GWM’s latest operating system, called Coffee, and features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Haval H6 GT PHEV continues to have a ten.25-inch digital instrument cluster, however the gear shifter moves as much as the steering column and there’s a choice of “higher-quality materials”. The GT continues to differ from the usual Haval H6 range with its suede upholstery.
Under the skin, it now uses GWM’s Hybrid Intelligent 4WD (Hi4) system, and an electrified all-wheel drive layout “designed to optimise efficiency, traction and performance across a big selection of driving conditions”.
The Haval H6 GT features an electrical motor on each axle, with intelligent torque distribution between each. Drive is distributed to all 4 wheels via a four-speed Direct Hybrid Transmission.
Total system power is unchanged from before, with the Haval H6 GT PHEV producing 321kW.
Nevertheless, torque drops from 762Nm to 642Nm, though the claimed 0-100km/h time nevertheless has improved from 4.9 to 4.6 seconds.
It also retains a 35.43kWh ternary lithium battery, with 183km of electrical range on the NEDC cycle and combined-cycle fuel consumption of 0.6L/100km.
In contrast, the usual Haval H6 PHEV has total outputs of 268KW and 780Nm, and a 19.09kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery offering 100km of NEDC range and fuel economy of 1.1L/100km.
The petrol-powered Haval H6 GT, also offered exclusively in Ultra trim, stays available. Nevertheless, it misses out on the inside and tech updates made to its PHEV sibling.
The Haval H6 GT, first launched here in 2025, was GWM’s first plug-in hybrid to reach in Australia but has been followed in quick succession by PHEV versions of the regular Haval H6, Tank 500, Cannon Alpha and, most recently, the Tank 300.
That led to GWM becoming Australia’s second largest seller of PHEVs in Australia in March, behind only BYD. It has delivered greater than 2700 PHEVs in under 14 months.
GWM says sales of the Haval H6 GT are split almost evenly between petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with the latter accounting for 51.5 per cent of sales.
