Xpeng ANZ, the factory-backed local subsidiary of Chinese automaker Xpeng, says it’s going to honour eligible cashback, warranty, maintenance and other promotional commitments for vehicles purchased through former distributor TrueEV.
The Australian distributor’s legal battle against Xpeng ANZ got here to an end on Thursday, August 20 when its case was dismissed in Federal Court. A trial scheduled for October 2026 had been contingent on TrueEV paying $1.26 million in security for costs across two tranches, nevertheless it did not pay the second tranche ahead of an August 19 deadline imposed by the court.
In a press release, Xpeng ANZ said: “With the formal conclusion of its distributor arrangement with TrueEV Distribution effective today, Xpeng ANZ is now the only operator of the Xpeng brand in Australian markets and is stepping forward to face directly behind every Xpeng customer, wherever and at any time when they purchased.”
It said it “recognises that the transition from TrueEV has created uncertainty for some customers” and is implementing a process to review documented promotional commitments made by the previous distributor to Xpeng buyers, using an expanded Australian-based customer support team.
This features a $5000 cashback offer, a 10-year warranty, and other promotional offers including complimentary scheduled servicing.
The corporate is asking customers who were promised these but who haven’t received them to succeed in out via email at with their name, vehicle identification number (VIN), proof of purchase, and some other documentation of the commitment.
The corporate says it’s reviewing each case individually and once the relevant commitment has been confirmed, it’s going to organise the applicable cashback payment, warranty activation, service booking or other agreed consequence directly.
“All Xpeng customers deserve certainty about who’s taking care of them. Every Xpeng vehicle in Australia and Latest Zealand is backed by the factory, and each customer who purchased through TrueEV can now take care of Xpeng ANZ directly,” said Xpeng ANZ national aftersales manager Shaun Anthony in a release.
“If a commitment was made to a customer at the purpose of sale, send us the main points and we’ll work with customers to succeed in the suitable consequence.”
Xpeng ANZ has been expanding its dealer network because it announced its factory-backed operations in April 2026, and now has retail locations across Queensland, Victoria, Latest South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.
In June 2026, it announced its warranty program, which is being prolonged to eligible vehicles purchased through TrueEV or its authorised dealers.
This warranty program comprises: a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty (dropping to seven years or 160,000km for business users); an eight-year, 160,000km warranty for the battery, electric motors and battery management system; a five-year, unlimited-kilometre paint warranty; and a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre anti-corrosion warranty.
TrueEV introduced Xpeng to Australia in 2024 under a five-year deal to exclusively distribute the brand here, launching the G6 electric SUV – a rival to the Tesla Model Y and Zeekr 7X – and planning to also introduce the X9 electric people mover. It also partnered with Ultra Tune for servicing and roadside assistance.
Nonetheless, on January 1, 2026, Xpeng told TrueEV it could terminate its local exclusivity and begin a “direct factory-backed [distribution] model” under its own company, Xpeng Australia and Latest Zealand (ANZ).
TrueEV launched legal proceedings against Xpeng ANZ in March, while receivers were appointed in that very same month in relation to stock of Xpeng vehicles held by TrueEV Distribution, based on filings with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
Despite the looming spectre of an upcoming court case – which now won’t go ahead – Xpeng ANZ held what was effectively an Australian relaunch last month, outlining its product plans which include a large expansion of the local model lineup.
The G6 shall be joined this 12 months not only by the X9, but in addition by the mid-size L03 and enormous G9L electric SUVs, with more recent models to follow in 2027.
