The electrical Vauxhall Corsa GSE is probably the most powerful production Corsa yet, combining 281PS with 0-62mph acceleration in 5.5 seconds.
Vauxhall has confirmed pricing and specifications for the brand new 281PS Corsa GSE, probably the most powerful production Corsa within the model’s history.
The electrical hot hatch produces 345Nm of torque and reaches 62mph from rest in 5.5 seconds. That makes it the fastest-accelerating Vauxhall production automobile currently available.
The Corsa GSE has an official on-the-road price of £34,495 falling to £32,995 after the Electric Automotive Grant.
UK orders will open in September, with customer deliveries starting during winter.
Strongest Corsa ever
The brand new Vauxhall Corsa GSE shares its electric powertrain with the Mokka GSE and delivers a power-to-weight ratio of 181hp per tonne.
Its three driving modes allow customers to change the automobile’s performance and efficiency. Sport mode provides the complete 281PS through a racetrack-focused calibration. Normal mode reduces output to 231PS, while Eco mode adjusts the settings for efficiency and limits the highest speed to 93mph. The utmost speed in Sport and Normal modes is 112mph.
A 54kWh battery, with 51kWh of usable capability, provides an official range of as much as 232 miles.
The usual Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres lead to a 220-mile range, while optional Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 tyres increase this by 12 miles.
A 100kW DC rapid charger can charge the battery from 0-80% in half-hour. Charging from 0-100% takes five hours and 45 minutes using an 11kW AC charger, rising to around seven hours and half-hour through a 7kW charger.
The usual 11kW onboard charger also supports vehicle-to-load technology. A compatible adapter can be available as an adjunct through Vauxhall dealerships.
Hot hatch chassis developed
The Corsa GSE uses a Nürburgring-developed chassis with revised suspension, steering and brakes. A Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential has been fitted to enhance traction and stability.
Vauxhall has reduced the ride height by 24mm on the front and 11mm on the rear. The front track is 54mm wider, while the rear track increases by 20mm.
The automobile rides on three-spoke 18-inch black diamond-cut alloy wheels inspired by Vauxhall GTE models from the Eighties.
The inside continues the retro theme with heated performance seats featuring tartan-style upholstery inspired by the Nova GTE.
A ten-inch digital instrument display provides model-specific information including G-force, torque, acceleration and battery data.
The adjoining 10-inch infotainment screen includes satellite navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Adaptive cruise control, lane positioning assistance, blind-spot monitoring and a 180-degree reversing camera are included as standard.
