Because the sun sets on an iconic era, automobile enthusiasts across the globe are bracing for an emotional farewell. The Grand Tour, which has been a beacon of automotive entertainment, is about to air its final episode. Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond have captivated hundreds of thousands of viewers for over twenty years with their unparalleled wit and fervour for cars. Now, the trio is gearing up for one last adventure together in “One for the Road,” premiering on September 13 on Amazon Prime.

On this highly anticipated finale, the trio will traverse Zimbabwe in cars they’ve at all times dreamed of owning. Clarkson will likely be behind the wheel of a Lancia Montecarlo, Hammond will tackle the terrain in a Ford Capri 3.0-liter, and May will pilot a Triumph Stag. While the teaser doesn’t reveal much when it comes to on-road motion, it beautifully highlights the camaraderie and humor which have endeared these hosts to audiences worldwide.

The Grand Tour has been a staple in our lives since its debut in 2016, following the trio’s departure from BBC’s Top Gear. Clarkson, who played a pivotal role in reviving Top Gear within the early 2000s, was joined by May in 2003, and along with Hammond, they turned the show right into a cultural phenomenon. Their move to Amazon allowed them to proceed creating the adventures that fans have come to like, with holiday specials that saw them journeying through distant and sometimes unforgiving landscapes in probably the most unlikely of vehicles.

Here at Automotive Addicts, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching these three blokes push the boundaries of automotive television, making us laugh, and at times, leaving us in awe. The Grand Tour has shown us that cars are greater than just machines; they’re vessels for unforgettable experiences and memories shared with friends.

As Clarkson poignantly says within the trailer, “So, for the last time, here we go.” For us, and countless automotive enthusiasts all over the world, this final episode will likely be bittersweet. The Grand Tour will likely be missed, however the memories it has created will proceed to fuel our passion for cars. Make sure to tune in on September 13, and maybe keep a tissue box nearby—this truly is the top of an era.
