Welcome, my friends, to a different Friday here in your favorite jello picnic website. What per week we have had together, huh? We have had a mobile Versailles, we have had Keanu Reeves and Gard Hollinger, we have had isekai driving games, we have had HRT femboys. Do you think that an HRT femboy is a cisgender transsexual? Debate that down within the comments, let’s get into queer theory today.
Whilst you’re in your way there, you might as well peruse a number of listings on the best way. Today we’re taking a visit to the famed Twin Cities of Minnesota, an area I’m told “exists” and “has individuals who live there.” I know little else about your land, Minnesotans, but I’ve learned at the very least one thing on this past week: A few of you will have very interesting tastes in vehicles. I do not think we have ever had a “powered parachute” on this hallowed column before, but you beautiful Minnesotans all supplied one. Thanks, folks, on your contributions to this week’s Dopest Cars.
Track-Prepped 2002 E46 BMW M3 – $23,000
I have said, almost weekly in Dopest, that I love a beat-to-hell BMW. One thing I don’t think I’ve said enough is that a beat-to-hell BMW is best when it’s in white. I cannot explain why. I think a shiny solid color just shows the damage that a lot better. Would you will have noticed how tousled these headlights are against black paint? I do not think you’ll have, and I think that might be a detriment.
After all, the battle scars and mismatched paint aren’t the one notable features about this M3. It is also fully track prepped, to a level that the vendor claims it’s now not street legal. I’ll say that that depends upon your jurisdiction, because I believe the state of Florida would happily allow you to register this. I’m pretty sure they’d allow you to register most go-karts, too, but a track-prepped M3 might be slightly more streetable.
2013 Scion FR-S – $15,900
Back within the day once I was trying to find Scion FR-Ses, this particular example would’ve been my ideal automobile. This was the colour I really wanted, and this automobile looks mint — though not stock. It has been modified, but tastefully, with a JDL unequal-length header, a Borla cat-back exhaust, and an OFT tablet to administer all the things. Those aren’t quite the parts I’d pick, but they’re close enough that I probably would not trouble swapping them out.
The vendor also claims this FR-S “has NEVER seen snow or winter road salt.” That won’t sound all that spectacular for a rear-wheel-drive coupe, but remember the goal marketplace for Scion was broke kids buying their first cars. A Scion FR-S was meant to be not only a each day but an only automobile, and many these have the wear and tear and tear to indicate for it. Mine definitely did, most notably on the rear snow tires after drifting to and from the food market all winter in upstate Latest York. It’s an excellent snow automobile, I promise.
2017 Triumph Street Twin – $4,950
I just got a signed book last night that opens with a picture of a bike. There is a guy too, but more importantly there’s a motorcycle. The creator showed me the book, and I immediately clocked the bike as one in every of these: A Triumph Street Twin, in some type of white or silver shade.
I’ve ridden the Street Twin a little or no bit (technically the post-rename Speed Twin 900, but who’s counting) and I must say it’s one in every of the higher bikes I’ve ever ridden. It’s just so well-made, so effortless to ride; it’s exactly what you imagine motorcycling is like in case you’ve never ridden a motorcycle. I think I’ve sold that creator on getting one in every of these, provided that description, once she gets her motorcycle license. I’m an excellent influence on my friends, in that I’m great at influencing them to go buy motorcycles.
1967 Sunbeam Funwagon – $8,000
As you realize from reading all of my other posts — I assume you read all the things I’ve ever written, like a superb little sycophant fan — I’ve recently been pouring all my economic and political anxiety into the thought of shopping for a van to live in. Facebook has thus really useful me quite a lot of vanlife-style builds, and maybe best amongst them is this little Sunbeam Funwagon.
Take a look at those wide-open eyes! The lovable little smiley grille! The white and lightweight blue paint! The little wood accents! Sure, this Sunbeam could use some love, but I think the means of restoring it will only bring you and this camper closer together. It is a bonding experience for the 2 of you, one that can culminate in you living on this van after you spend all of your rent money restoring it. A minimum of it is a roof over your head!
2013 Factory Five 818S – $24,950
I’ve all the time been fascinated by these little 818 kit cars. Beneath that sleek, almost Honda-looking mid-engined body lie quite a few parts sourced from Subarus: engine, transmission, gauges, interior parts. This particular model has had those Impreza seats swapped for Sparcos, though it still retains each day drivable three-point belts. We love a kit automobile that may still be used on the road.
What’s it wish to drive an 818, with a turbocharged boxer engine sitting right behind your head? I even have no Earthly idea, but I imagine it’s a superb time. I’m unsure I’d love taking a look at this particular automobile’s bright-orange interior your complete time I’d be behind the wheel, nevertheless it will surely be on brand for Jalopnik. Can we Kickstart a collective staff ownership of this, actually? Give all of the staff writers and editors a key, and allow us to all fight over use of it.
1996 Suzuki X-90 – $10,500
I even have a humble request of you, dear reader. Buy this X-90, and immediately take these silly wheels off of it. The bronze color is fantastic — I’d go white to match the white running boards, but that is just me — but these flimsy spokes on multipiece wheels don’t in any respect fit the off-road vibe this Suzuki is trying to offer off. Metal bumpers, winch, fog lights, light bar, all-terrain tires… and these dumb wheels? C’mon now.
The vendor calls this a “rare custom construct,” seemingly since it has a brand new engine. The vendor makes it sound like an incredible off road-prepped engine, but I am unable to really find any evidence pointing to it being anything greater than possibly a freshly rebuilt mill. That is good, needless to say, but I’m unsure it makes up for a way bad these wheels are. Lowball the vendor. This Suzuki deserves higher, and I think you are just the person to offer it a greater life.
2019 Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe – $7,500
One other entry within the Vehicles Amber Has Wanted category, we’ve this Kawasaki Z900RS. It is the cafe model, with the vintage-looking front fairing, and I’ve all the time thought this stuff are only gorgeous. I’ve sat on one on the dealer, and located it just heavier than I wanted, but which may just make it the proper bike for you.
Perhaps this is not some incredibly nimble lane-splitting cone-weaving machine, but possibly that is not what you would like. Should you want something that is a bit more of a confident highway cruiser, something planted within the wind of a passing truck that also looks beautiful bopping from cafe to cafe. Plus, it is a four-cylinder liter bike, it is not prefer it’s some slouch in a straight line and even within the twisties. That is all price it for the colour, though, because come on. Take a look at that shade of green, and tell me you do not need this bike.
1989 Toyota MR2 – $4,000
Mister Two! Not Bon Kurei (Bon Clay?), but Toyota’s little midship runabout two-seater. Just slightly guy! Sure, this is not the flamboyant supercharged version, nevertheless it’s still a light-weight mid-engine rear-wheel-drive automobile. I do know, I know, this one is not manual, but you’ll be able to fix that if you fix the oil and coolant leaks. Just pull the entire drivetrain out and put in something more interesting. K-swap it or something.
Yeah, I know in regards to the Toyota 2.4 liter 2AZ swaps for the MR-S, but I’ve actually never seen a K-swapped AW11. I believe it is best to start the trend. I know K-swaps are slightly overdone at this point (though I’d still take one over any LS swap on the market), but I believe packing a ton of power in a light-weight package can be a blast behind your head in these blueish seats. Actually, after you purchase this, tell me if the seats are blue in real life or if the steering wheel is just fooling me within the photos.
1984 Zimmer Golden Spirit – $9,000
I’d never heard of this company before this listing, and I’ve realized that there is really not all that much to know. Founded in 1980, bankrupt by 1988, a classic story from the times of Reaganism and plentiful cocaine. I suppose cocaine remains to be plentiful. That is probably why Silicon Valley and midtown Manhattan are like that.
Zimmer, the manufacturer of this Golden Spirit, did actually come back within the ’90s and do its thing for one more couple a long time. Its thing being “turning contemporary vehicles into vehicles that look exactly like this.” The headlights, the long hood, the grille, Zimmer just took these Nineteen Twenties-looking styling elements and just sort of put them on whatever. That is, beneath the landau top, a Mustang of all things. I fully expected a K-car or something, but no, Mustang. I will be honest, I would’ve preferred this one remain a Ford. Keep the weird beige color, that part I’m into, but we actually don’t need an extra 60 feet of body length on the front there.
Buckeye Dream Machine – $6,300
Apparently, this Buckeye Dream Machine is a “powered parachute.” I type of object to the “parachute” a part of that, because parachutes are for falling. This can be a powered machine that may take off, which is the alternative of falling. Would you call the seat of your automobile an airbag? Would you call a bike a brake rotor? No, because those can be absurd. But someway, calling a flying device a parachute is taken into account normal by everyone but me.
Clearly, I’m the just one blessed with clarity of sight on this matter, and meaning it falls upon me to rename this stuff. They are not powered paragliders, that is a separate thing — actually, they are not even gliders! They do not glide, they’re powered! It’s just a few type of ultralight fabric-supported aircraft, which I admit rolls off the tongue slightly lower than “powered parachute.” I’ll work on it.
