Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said the brand new Cybertruck’s body is bulletproof, but one YouTuber – understandably – didn’t want to only take his word for it.
JerryRigEverything took a Cybertruck out to a snowy field together with a bunch of guns: a .22, a .17, just a few 9mm handguns, and even a .50 calibre rifle.
You’ll need to observe the video to see the complete results, but Mr Musk’s claim the Cybertruck is proof against a round from a 9mm handgun proved true.
While the outspoken CEO didn’t claim it could withstand gunfire from a .50 cal rifle, JerryRigEverything decided to fireplace a round from one into the Cybertruck anyway – revealing even this burly, stainless steel-bodied ute won’t get you thru a warzone unscathed.
The YouTuber also noted the armoured glass initially proposed for the Cybertruck never eventuated, so the windows are “definitely not bulletproof, in any way, shape or form”.
Tesla already put the Cybertruck through ballistics testing of its own last yr, unloading every little thing from a handgun as much as a 12-gauge shotgun into the ute.
