Porsche looks set to have two latest rival convertibles inside the coming years – and so they’re from the identical French brand.
Renault’s performance arm, Alpine, is planning to supply roadster versions of its new-generation A110 and A310 sports cars by 2030, in line with a brand new report from UK publication Autocar.
While the A110 is about to hold on the model’s legacy of low weight and agile handling, the A310 is alleged to share similar proportions with the present A110, but will adopt a more futuristic look – dropping the retro styling of its stablemate.
But because the A110 will likely proceed as a two-seater, the A310 is predicted to supply as much as 4 seats – potentially competing against the Ford Mustang within the sports automobile segment, though offering a much different experience.

Meanwhile, the new-generation A110 is more likely to take the fight to the Porsche Boxster, of which an all-electric version is currently in development.
The addition of the A110 and A310 roadsters will help fill out Alpine’s range, which will even consist of the recently-released A290 hot hatch – based on the Renault 5 electric hatch – and the Australia-bound A390 coupe SUV.
Alpine can be working on a pair of larger SUVs.
The introduction of two latest convertibles is sort of unusual within the 2020s, given Audi has now axed all of its drop-tops, BMW is pulling the plug on the Z4, and Mercedes-Benz has slimmed down its convertible lineup.
Electric convertibles also remain rare, with only two currently on sale in Australia: the MG Cyberster and Maserati GranCabrio Folgore.
