Nexar and Nauto have agreed to merge, combining two of the fleet industry’s largest sources of real-world driving data in a move the businesses say will strengthen AI-powered safety, risk management, and operational intelligence.
The combined company will draw on greater than 10 billion miles of historical driving data while adding greater than 300 million real-world miles every month across greater than 50 countries. The businesses say the larger and more diverse dataset will improve the accuracy of AI models utilized by fleets, insurers, automakers, and autonomous vehicle developers.
For fleet operators, the largest opportunity is not simply collecting more data, it’s generating higher insights from it.
Merger Delivers Scale And Context
“The largest change is scale and context,” Stefan Heck, Nauto’s founder and CEO, told Automotive Fleet.
“Together, they are going to create an independent intelligence platform built on greater than 10 billion miles of driving history and over 300 million recent real-world miles captured every month across greater than 50 countries. That larger, more diverse dataset will enable AI models to acknowledge patterns and predict outcomes with a level of confidence that neither company could achieve independently.”
Heck said fleets should profit from the expanded data foundation as recent capabilities are developed.
“The combined company has the potential to provide recent insights to fleets from the larger pool of information in addition to additional models that originated with Nexar, like BADAS, the industry’s leading incident prediction model, and Atlas, which searches how a spot behaves, drawing on the combined record of real-world driving history,” Heck said.
“For fleet executives who need to know more in regards to the scenarios their drivers face day by day and maximize their safety and efficiency, there must be so much to stay up for.”
Leadership of Combined Company
Nexar CEO Zach Greenberger will lead the combined company as CEO. Financial terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed. Heck will function chairman of the combined company’s board.
The merger combines Nexar’s extensive driving-data network—which captures greater than 100 million miles of driving every month and covers 94% of U.S. roads—with Nauto’s AI-powered fleet safety platform utilized by greater than 1,000 industrial fleets worldwide.
The businesses said existing customers will proceed using their current products and support organizations following the merger, while getting access to broader datasets and more predictive AI capabilities over time as integration progresses.
The transaction stays subject to customary closing conditions.
