As Independence Day lights up the sky once more, we’re pausing the fireworks and flipping the burgers to rejoice something every Spy treasures—the vehicles which have powered our biggest summer adventures. This 12 months, we’re inviting all our Spies to open the vault of memories and recall every ride you’ve ever owned. From the shiny summer presents that appeared like magic within the driveway, to the hand-me-down beaters that taught you about oil changes and freedom, to the project cars, each day drivers, muscle machines, and family haulers that logged limitless miles through the years.
Amongst all of them, which one stands out as essentially the most memorable and deeply loved—the only vehicle by which you experienced the 4th of July in a way that also gives you chills or makes you grin like a idiot today?
To kick things off, we’ll share one legendary example from our own ranks. Agent 001 still swears his all-time favorite was his 1979 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade. In its day, that vibrant, lifted Jeep was the undisputed king of Sherkston Beach, Ontario, Canada. A brief ride over the Peace Bridge from Buffalo, NY. Only a few people had Jeeps back then—and even fewer had anything just like the CJ-7—making it stand out like a beacon on the sand. What made it pure magic was that Sherkston allowed vehicles right on the beach. Agent 001 would roll the Renegade straight onto the sand, tires digging in barely enough for traction, and the party would begin.
Molson Stock Ale flowed freely from the cooler, music cranked from the Jeep’s speakers, and bikinis looked as if it would circle the rig all afternoon as friends and strangers alike wanted rides, photos, or simply a likelihood to climb aboard the king of the beach. Fireworks lit the horizon while the Jeep sat like a throne, American flags fluttering from the roll bar, the salty lake breeze mixing with exhaust and summer vibes. That CJ-7 wasn’t just transportation—it was the last word expression of freedom, adventure, and summer legend all wrapped in a single rugged package. To today, Agent 001 says nothing else has ever matched the pure joy and a spotlight that Renegade delivered on those 4th of July beach runs at Sherkston.
Now it’s your turn, Spies.
Tell us about your unforgettable ride. Which vehicle out of your past (or present) owns the crown on your best 4th of July memory? Share the make, model, 12 months, and the complete story behind it. What made that day special? Was it the open-road freedom, the people crammed inside laughing until dawn, a spontaneous road trip to catch distant fireworks, a memorable breakdown that was the most effective tale ever told, or the way in which the vehicle simply felt alive in the summertime heat?
Perhaps your story involves a classic Mustang roaring through town, a trusty pickup hauling the whole family to the lake, a vintage Corvette that turned heads at every stoplight, or perhaps a humble hatchback that by some means became the center of each celebration. We would like the complete picture—the sights, sounds, smells, the triumphs, and the hilarious mishaps.
Your stories will remind us all why we love these machines: they’re greater than metal and rubber. They’re the vessels that carry our independence, our friendships, our wildest summer nights, and our most cherished memories of freedom.

Drop your tales within the comments, send them on to us, or tag a fellow Spy to get them sharing too. The very best submissions may get featured in an upcoming roundup so everyone can benefit from the nostalgia.
Fan the flames of those memories, Spies. Which vehicle made your 4th of July legendary? We are able to’t wait to listen to every rev, every laugh, and each firework-lit moment. Let the stories roll in!

And naturally, Do NOT drink and drive! Have a secure and wonderful 4th!!
