MG5 dilancar di Malaysia – sedan segmen C dengan harga seperti City/Vios, 1.5L NA CVT, dari RM86,900

Selepas dipertontonkan kepada media Ogos lalu, MG5 kini dilancarkan secara rasmi untuk pasaran Malaysia, dalam satu varian yang diimport (CBU) dari Thailand, pada harga RM93,900 tidak termasuk insurans. Walaubagaimanapun sebagai pengenalan, SAIC Motor Malaysia membuat promosi rebat sebanyak RM7,000, menjadikan harganya cuma RM86,900.

Harga ini meletakkan MG5 dalam lingkungan yang sama seperti Honda City dan Toyota Vios, tetapi ia mempunyai saiz hampir dengan sedan segmen C seperti Civic. Mencatat panjang 4,675 mm dan lebar 1,842 mm, MG5 hanya 3 mm lebih pendek dan 40 mm lebih lebar berbanding Civic, manakala jarak roda 2,680 mm pula meletakkannya hampir dengan Toyota Corolla (2,700 mm) dan Civic (2,735 mm).

Enjin MG5 pula lebih sesuai untuk dibandingkan dengan sedan segmen B, kerana ia menggunakan unit 1.5 liter empat-silinder DOHC NA berkuasa 114 PS pada takat 6,000 rpm dan tork maksima 150 Nm pada takat 4,500 rpm. Menyampaikan kuasa kepada roda hadapan adalah kotak gear i-CVT automatik bersama lapan-kelajuan maya.

Untuk kelengkapan standard, MG5 datang dengan lampu utama LED automatik, DRL, bumbung suria boleh buka, lampu belakang LED, rim 17 inci, tempat duduk balutan kulit (larasan elektrik untuk pemandu), kawalan pendingin hawa automatik satu zon dengan penapis udara PM2.5 dan corong belakang, enam pembesar suara, cruise control serta brek parkir elektronik dengan fungsi Auto Hold.

Di depan pemandu disediakan panel instrumen digital tujuh inci, sementara di bahagian tengah papan pemuka terdapat skrin sesentuh 10.25 inci untuk sistem infotainmen dengan boleh disambung kepada Apple CarPlay, Android Auto serta memancarkan paparan kamera 360 darjah. Bawah padanya terdapat beberapa butang kawalan pendingin hawa dan tahap bunyi audio.

Pada bahagian keselamatan, kereta ini datang dengan enam beg udara, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), EBD, EBA dan pakej MG Pilot yang termasuk Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist dan Rear Collission Warning. AEB bagaimanapun tidak disediakan.

MG5 disediakan dalam pilihan lima warna iaitu Dynamic Red, Arctic White, Black Pearl, Camden Grey dan Nuclear Yellow seperti dalam gambar. SAIC Motor Malaysia memberikan jaminan lima tahun tanpa had batuan untuk kereta ICE mereka ini, manakala bahagian enjin dan transmisi diberikan jaminan berasingan selama tujuh tahun tanpa had batuan.

Sebagai perbandingan, Honda City dijual pada harga antara RM84,900 hinga RM99,900 bagi varian petrol, manakala Toyota Vios pula datang dengan harga jualan antara RM89,600 ke RM95,500. Proton S70 yang menggunakan enjin 1.5L turbo DCT pula dijual pada harga antara RM73,800 ke RM94,800.
