Track enthusiasts are actually spoiled for selection with regards to automakers launching track cars based on their successful race cars.

Hot on the heels of Ferrari launching a track automobile based on its Le Mans-winning 499P, Mercedes-Benz AMG has launched a track automobile based on its GT2 race automobile.

AMG’s track automobile goes by the name GT2 Pro, and it’s much more extreme than its race automobile counterpart on account of the dearth of regulations it has to satisfy.

In each cases there is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 under the hood, though as a substitute of the race automobile’s peak output of 697 hp, the track automobile comes with a Push to Pass system that temporarily boosts output to 740 hp.

Each cars also share s 6-speed sequential transmission mounted on the rear axle, however the track automobile features modified gear ratios that enable the engine to rev longer and deliver more power.

The track automobile’s aerodynamics have also been honed to generate more downforce than the race automobile. One specific modification is a rear wing with much larger endplates. The track automobile also sports four-way adjustable dampers as a substitute of the race automobile’s three-way units.

The value of the GT2 Pro is about at 479,000 euros (roughly $509,000). Buyers even have priority for AMG-organized track events, one in all which is a brand new AMG Racing Series which is able to happen at famous European racetracks and supply participants with access to an engineer and driving coaches. The primary AMG Racing Series event runs in November on the Circuit Ricardo Tormo near Valencia, Spain.

The GT2 Pro is more likely to be the last version of the outgoing GT. The GT’s successor, the two+2 GT Coupe, was revealed in August and speeds into showrooms in the primary half of 2024. A racing version hasn’t been announced but could possibly arrive in the following 12-18 months.
