Within the ever-evolving landscape of electrical vehicles, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB emerges as a refreshing update to its predecessor. The EQB made its debut in 2022, and the undeniable fact that Mercedes-Benz is already introducing enhancements speaks volumes concerning the automaker’s commitment to staying on the forefront of electrical mobility.

Externally, the EQB receives a subtle yet impactful facelift. A brand new grille design, now adorned with the signature Mercedes-EQ black panel studded with stars, is a visible statement. The selection between black or chrome stars offers a touch of personalization. The front bumper has been reimagined to intensify the vehicle’s width, enhancing its commanding presence on the road. On the rear, Mercedes has reworked the taillights inside the full-width assembly, leading to a fresh aesthetic. The introduction of two latest exterior colours, Starling Blue and Cirrus Silver, adds to the EQB’s visual appeal.

Contained in the cabin, Mercedes elevates the tech game. The usual 10.25-inch touchscreen display, powered by the Zero Layer MBUX software, is a major addition. It brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, diverse display modes, an intelligent voice assistant, and the power to unlock additional features through over-the-air updates. Notably, Mercedes offers two “Sound Experiences” as standard but allows customers to access two more through the Mercedes Me store.

Sound enthusiasts will appreciate the mixing of Dolby Atmos technology into the optional Burmester audio system, promising a more authentic and precise auditory experience. The introduction of “Plug & Charge” capability simplifies the charging process, eliminating the necessity for cards or apps on select chargers. Moreover, a brand new range monitoring function empowers drivers to observe and manage their battery usage, potentially increasing the vehicle’s range. Mercedes also touts improvements in driver assistance systems, incorporating a brand new mono multi-purpose camera and an updated backup camera for enhanced safety.

Despite these updates, the guts of the EQB stays unchanged by way of powertrain options. Customers can still choose from the front-wheel-drive EQB 250+ and the 2 all-wheel-drive variants, the EQB 300 4Matic and the potent EQB 350 4Matic. With a maximum DC fast charging speed of 100 kW, it’s poised to cater to the convenience-focused needs of electrical vehicle users. While official EPA range rankings are pending, expectations point toward figures much like the present model’s 250-mile maximum range for the EQB 250+. For those considering the optional third row, the EQB maintains its flexibility to remodel right into a seven-seater.
