Lamborghini has said that the V12 engine will stay in production well beyond 2030.
“The horizon for us is even more than 2030 now,” Matteo Ortenzi, Product Line Director at Lamborghini, said at the unveiling of the Fenomeno at The Quail.
The hybrid system developed for the Revuelto allowed Lamborghini to retain the V12 engine. “This allows us to comply with the legislation, especially in CO2 and emissions, which would be difficult to comply with if we did not have this kind of technology,” Ortenzi said.
Earlier, Lamborghini had said that it was adjusting its EV plans. Initially, the supercar maker was aiming to launch its first EV, the Lanzador, in 2028, followed by the Urus EV in 2029. The latter has now been pushed to 2035, while the Lanzador could shift to a plug-in hybrid.
