A right-hand drive version of the Avatr 06T has been spied within the UK, with the electrical sports wagon now a firm likelihood for Australia.
Images posted on the Facebook group Rare And On The Road show Chinese premium brand Avatr has begun testing the 06T in other right-hand drive markets, with the model having been confirmed for Thailand in April 2026.
As reported in May 2026, Avatr has also been evaluating vehicles in Australia, with the 07 mid-size SUV caught on camera within the Melbourne suburb of Point Cook.
The Avatr brand falls under the umbrella of Chinese automotive giant Changan, which is planning to launch each it and its namesake brand on the Australian market.
The range-topping 06T Performance grade is alleged to provide as much as 712kW and 996Nm from its three electric motors – two on the rear axle and one on the front axle – being fed from an 87.3kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
Claimed figures have the all-wheel-drive 06T Performance completing the 0-100km/h sprint in 2.78 seconds, with a spread of 710km based on the more lenient NEDC standard.
Below that’s the rear-wheel-drive 06T Max, with dual electric motors putting out a combined 502kW and 750Nm, with an 87.3kWh battery allowing for a driving range of 710km (NEDC) and a claimed 0-100km/h time of three.74 seconds.
The entry 06T Elite also uses two electric motors, together making 450kW and 750Nm, with a 72.8kWh battery and 620km of driving range (NEDC).
Avatr also offers a range-extender powertrain – referred to as an EREV – which adds a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine with a forty five.1kWh battery, powering dual electric motors for a complete system output of 370kW.
The EREV version has a complete driving range of 1200km, and an electric-only range of 300km – each based on the NEDC test.
Nonetheless, based on Autolife magazine, the 06T announced for the Thai market will only be available as an electrical vehicle.
Avatr isn’t just specializing in straight-line speed, with the 06T featuring front double-wishbone suspension and multi-link rear suspension, hydraulic bushings, and adaptive shock absorbers within the Elite and Max variants. Meanwhile, the Performance gets air suspension.
Inside, there’s a 35.4-inch panoramic screen that spans the dashboard, incorporating the digital instrument cluster. On either side are 6.7-inch screens that act because the external side mirrors, with cameras fitted to the front power doors.
Infotainment duties are handled via a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, controlling a 2016-watt Meridian audio system – the identical present in Range Rover models – with 25 speakers, 24 channels, and seven.1.4 panoramic surround sound.
The automaker also advertises ‘anti-gravity’ front 14-way power seats – finished in Nappa leather sourced from North America – which can be capable of recline to 120 degrees, and have ventilation, heating, and massage functions.
The headliner is Dinamica microfibre suede, while the centre console and trim might be optioned in Birch or Ash wood.
At 279,900 Yuan, pricing for the Avatr 06T Performance translates to roughly A$58,300 – though this doesn’t consider fees, taxes, shipping, and other associated costs.
Interestingly, the Avatr is just 17,000 Yuan costlier than the range-topping Zeekr 7GT – one other electric performance wagon – or roughly A$3500.
Unlike the Avatr 06T, the Zeekr 7GT has been confirmed for the Australian market, and is predicted to launch here in either late 2026 or early 2027.
Changan has yet to officially announce the launch of its namesake and Avatr brands here, though it has been promoting jobs on LinkedIn.
The 06T brings to 3 the entire variety of Avatr vehicles being produced in right-hand drive, together with the 07 and 11 SUVs.
