In tallying up the sales performance of business fleets at mid-year, gains could be seen in monthly and first-half 12 months numbers that contribute to a robust total fleet sales finish thus far in 2026, in keeping with monthly fleet sales figures released by Bobit Business Media on July 1.
All three fleet sectors generated sales gains in June and year-to-date.
Business fleet sales numbered 431,870 vehicles 12 months thus far in comparison with 401,268 sold through June 30, 2025, for a rise of seven.6%.
“Business vehicle sales increased 10% in June in comparison with last 12 months and are almost 8% this 12 months,” said Zohaib Rahim, senior manager of economic and industry insights for Cox Automotive. “The rebound in sales comes after a dip in May, as industrial vehicles proceed to see strong sales gains this 12 months.”
Sales activity within the three fleet segments for June 2026 were as follows:
- Business fleet sales numbered 79,625 vehicles last month, from 72,306 in June 2025, rising 10.1%.
- Rental fleet sales rose a healthy 11.5%, from 97,241 rental cars sold in June 2025 to 108,432 vehicles sold last month.
- Government fleet vehicle sales rose 5%, with 22,626 vehicles sold in June in comparison with 21,539 vehicles sold in June 2025. (The six major Asian-based automakers didn’t report any government fleet numbers for June.)
Those numbers resulted in total June fleet sales of 210,683, up 10.3% from 191,086 vehicles sold in June 2025.
Business, rental, and government fleet sales in the primary half of 2026 reached 1,251,619 total fleet vehicles sold, up 4.4% in comparison with 1,198,777 vehicles sold in the primary six months of 2025.
“The U.S. economy continues its expansion, as growth stays stable in 2026,” Rahim said. “First quarter Real GDP was revised as much as a 2.1% annualized rate from the 1.6% prior estimate, and business investment stays positive, resulting in a positive environment for industrial vehicle demand.
Bobit Business Media (BBM), owner of Auto Rental News, compiles fleet sales statistics based on aggregate data from the three major Detroit-based auto manufacturers, the Asian Big 6 automakers, and VW. The statistics include cars, SUVs, and trucks.
