Brilliant yellow Subaru BRZ special edition shall be limited

Subaru Australia has launched a brand new special-edition BRZ coupe, bringing a striking yellow exterior color alongside a spate of minor enhancements – but you’ll need to be quick should you want one.

Constructing on the top-spec BRZ tS, just 95 examples of the brand new Subaru BRZ tS Kiiro shall be available in Australia as a part of an ultra-limited production run of just 350 units.

Available to order now, the BRZ tS Kiiro is priced at $53,590 before on-road costs, $800 greater than the usual tS which costs $52,790 before on-roads.

Amongst probably the most notable additions to the flagship tS – a variant flippantly tuned by the Japanese brand’s in-house STI performance division as standard – is the headline ‘Sunrise Yellow’ paint color after which the model is known as.

Other tweaks include 18-inch alloy wheels in matte black, Ultrasuede seat upholstery with yellow perforations, yellow interior stitching, and matte black ‘Kiiro’ badging inside and outside. Naturally, there’s also a plaque inside to discover each model’s construct number.

Just like the wider BRZ range, the tS Kiiro is powered by a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine with unchanged power and torque outputs.

The identical 174kW of power and 250Nm of torque is shipped exclusively to the rear wheels, while the Kiiro is accessible with each six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

It retains the STI-tuned suspension and Brembo brakes of the usual tS, together with the dedicated ‘Sport’ drive mode added in 2025.

‘Kiiro’ (黄色) means ‘yellow’ in Japanese kanji and is claimed to symbolise energy and optimism, with Subaru saying this special-edition BRZ is meant to capture the enjoyment of driving.

Subaru appears to be adopting a yellow craze globally. Multiple special editions have been launched in Japan and the US wearing the daring paint finish, and while some are designated ‘STI Sport’ models, none might be considered true STI halo cars.

The brand revealed Series.Yellow limited-production versions of the BRZ tS and WRX tS within the US in late 2025, finished in Sunrise Yellow and sporting similar cosmetic tweaks to the Australian tS Kiiro, including black wheels and unique upholstery. Each was limited to 350 units.

More recently, Subaru Japan unveiled multiple special-edition cars at this 12 months’s Tokyo Auto Salon. Alongside the WRX STI Sport# prototype were the Levorg STI Sport R-Black Limited II STI Performance wagon and the WRX S4 STI Sport R-Black Limited II STI Performance, each available in Sunrise Yellow.

Long-winded names aside, the yellow Japan-only cars get black exterior accents, black alloy wheels, and Recaro seats with unique yellow perforated upholstery, while the WRX might be had with a big STI-style rear wing. Various cosmetic STI accessories are also fitted as standard.
