BMW could put certainly one of its best-looking concept cars ever into production

BMW appears to be serious about putting the stunning Skytop concept automobile into production.

Sources told BMW Blog that BMW has been emailing prospective Skytop buyers concerning the vehicle, asking whether or not they are truly excited about placing an order.

While BMW Group Design boss Adrian van Hooydonk previously told Automotive News the brand could construct 20 to 25 examples of the Skytop, the most recent information suggests the most recent production number is closer to 50.

It is also a money cow for BMW, with prices reportedly near €500,000 ($825,000) being touted, which might not only make it considerably costlier than the BMW M8 coupe upon which it’s based – which retails for $380,000 – but additionally certainly one of the brand’s dearest models ever.

Though BMW never disclosed a precise figure, the M4-based 3.0 CSL hommage from 2022 was rumoured to be priced between €600,000 to €700,000 ($990,000 to $1.15 million).

While the three.0 CSL hommage did make the transition from concept to ultra-exclusive production automobile, some show cars haven’t been as lucky, including the Z4-based shooting brake Concept Touring Coupe.

For the reason that Skytop was revealed in May, it has set online forums abuzz with support from BMW fans and general observers alike, praising its gorgeous design and smooth lines – in addition to the entire lack of a bucktooth kidney grille like most of the brand’s current models.

Unlike the M8 which might – legally at the very least – seat five occupants, the Skytop is a two-seater only, with the driving force and passenger treated to a targa roof and retractable rear window.

Under the bonnet, there’s a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine under the bonnet, producing 460kW of power and 750Nm of torque, driving all 4 wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
