While other EV models (BYD Atto 3, Chery Omoda E5 and Aion Y Plus) are scrambling to cost match the Proton eMas 7 in Malaysia, it’s the Geely EX5 that’s being heavily discounted amid the fierce EV price cutting war over in Thailand. The eMas twin just received a significant price cut of 100,000 baht (RM13k), now ranging from 799,000 baht (RM104.5k) in hope of it being more competitive within the crowded market. That’s somewhat significant considering it was just launched a couple of months ago. In Thailand, the electrical SUV market is dominated by the BYD Atto 3, with…
We’re only just a few days into 2025, but Proton CEO Dr Li Chunrong has already confirmed that the national automobile company will launch its second all-electric model this yr. That’s big news indeed, coming lower than a month after the long-awaited introduction of the Proton eMas 7, Malaysia’s first local-branded EV. While the identity of the second model remains to be under wraps, it’s heavily rumoured to be the eMas 5, based on the Geely Xingyuan.…

When implemented, 85% of Malaysians will proceed to enjoy RON95 fuel at its subsidised price of RM2.05 per litre, while the T15 (top 15% earners), described by the PM because the maha kaya or super wealthy, may have to pay more. Presently, unsubsidised RON95…
EON, already the most important Proton dealership group in Malaysia with at least 10 outlets nationwide, is prepared for the following big thing – the introduction of the very first national all-electric vehicle, the Proton eMas 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7). The multi-brand powerhouse has already established a dedicated website for the upcoming eMas 7, where interested parties can register their interest of the electrical SUV. Furthermore, the dealership group has also confirmed that work is well underway at its soon-to-be-opened Proton eMas showroom at EON Glenmarie, right next to its existing smart 3S centre. Once operational, it’s going to…
