Unveiled ahead of the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend is the 2025 Yamaha YZF-R25, priced at RM23,900 advisable retail. Pricing doesn’t include road tax, insurance or registration and there are two color options – Pearl Blu and Racing Blu.
Styling for the R25 is substantially revamped, following the lines of the R1 and R9 sportsbikes. The seat unit now closely resembles that of the R1, while the body panels are all recent, features styling with hints of aerodynamics.
Engine specifications remain the identical, with a liquid-cooled, DOHC, eight-valve, parallel-twin mill displacing 249 cc powering the R25. Power output is rated at 35.4 hp at 12,000 rpm with a maximum 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm.
Power goes through an assist and slipper clutch equipped six-speed gearbox and chain final drive to the rear wheel. Tyre sizing is 110/70 front and 140/70 rear rubber with seat height set at 758 mm and with 14.3-litres within the tank, the R25 weighs 160 kg.
Recent for the R25 are the headlights, featuring slim DRLs and LED elements, with the tail light looking prefer it has been taken off the R1 superbike. Two-channel ABS is standard equipment, together with the Yamaha Y-Connect app that features Bluetooth connectivity to the rider’s smartphone.
Y-Connect allows for real-time updates equivalent to phone notifications, fuel consumption levels, maintenance
recommendations, and the last parking location of their bike. Suspension is finished with upside-down forks in front, non-adjustable, and a preload-adjustable monoshock on the back, while braking uses single hydraulic discs front and rear.
