Entering the Malaysia underbone market is the 2025 Modenas Z15GT, priced at RM8,288 excluding road tax, insurance and registration. The Z15GT enters a really competitive motorcycle sector in Malaysia, within the 150 cc kapchai segment.
Primary competition for Z15GT comes from the Yamaha YZ15R, and the Honda RS-X Winner 150, in addition to the Suzuki Raider R150 Fi. There are three colors offered – Graphite Grey, Nardo Grey, and Rosso Red – with deliveries of the Z15GT into Modenas and Kawasaki authorised dealer showrooms starting October 27.
With the aim of selling 27,000 units of the Z15GT annually in Malaysia, Modenas also goals to tackle the export market between 2026 and 2030 within the Philippines, Greece, Türkiye, and Cambodia. Developed in-house in by a dedicated team of 31 Malaysian engineers, designers, and technicianscollaboration with Kawasaki Motors Corporation (KMC), eight Malaysian engineers trained with Kawasaki in Japan, while others underwent specialised engine design training in Austria.
Touted as Modenas’ most advanced motorcycle to-date, the Z15GT comes with a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill displacing 149.5 cc. Engine power is claimed to be 16.76 hp at 9,500 rpm, with 13.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, going to the rear wheel via six-speed gearbox and chain final drive.
Braking for the Z15GT is finished with single hydraulic discs front and rear, with single channel ABS acting on the front brake. Suspension uses conventional telescopic forks in front and preload-adjustable monoshock within the rear.
The Z15GT weighs in at 128 kg, with 5.7-litres of fuel within the tank, while seat height is ready at 780 mm. Wheel sizing is 17-inches front and rear, shod with 90/80 front and 120/70 rear tyres.
