Within the landscape of luxury SUVs, the BMW X5 has established itself as a frontrunner over the past 25 years. Although the Mercedes-Benz M-Class initiated the mainstream luxury SUV trend within the U.S. for the 1998 model yr, the BMW X5, introduced for the 2000 model yr, truly ignited consumer interest. Notably, during its development, BMW owned Land Rover, which added a layer of experience to its design and functionality. To commemorate a quarter-century of this iconic “Sport Activity Vehicle,” BMW is launching a special limited-edition model: the 2025 BMW X5 Silver Anniversary Edition.

Exclusive Features and Design

This anniversary edition relies on the xDrive40i trim and boasts several unique features that set it aside from standard models. The outside is adorned in a BMW Individual Lime Rock Grey Metallic paint, a shade not available on the regular X5 lineup. Complementing this exclusive color are bi-color 20-inch M Star-spoke wheels, a part of the M Sport Package. The outside is further enhanced by the Prolonged Shadowline trim, which replaces the typically shiny parts with a sleek, dark finish. Nevertheless, BMW has retained some shiny accents from the usual Sport Package, comparable to the front lower intake garnish and side sill accents, to subtly emphasize the SUV’s off-road capabilities.

Off-Road Enhancements

The Silver Anniversary Edition shouldn’t be nearly looks; it’s also equipped for serious off-road adventures. The xOffroad Package, specially curated for this edition, includes an air suspension system, underbody skid plates, and a mechanical locking rear differential. Moreover, an off-road camera setting utilizes the SUV’s exterior cameras to display the trail on the infotainment screen at speeds below 22 miles per hour, providing crucial off-road data comparable to incline and gradient angles, and ground clearance. Dedicated terrain settings for gravel, rocks, sand, and snow further enhance its off-road potential. For those trying to push the boundaries, BMW offers General Grabber All-Terrain tires at a reduced rate.

Interior Luxury and Technology

Inside, the Silver Anniversary Edition offers a selection of Sensafin fabric in Black, Cognac, Coffee, or Silverstone. The inside is further refined with carbon fiber trim, typically reserved for the higher-end X5 M60i and X5 M Competition models. The Live Cockpit Skilled system is standard, featuring a heads-up display and BMW Maps navigation with augmented reality. The Premium Package adds much more comfort and convenience with Harman-Kardon surround sound audio, heated front seats and armrests, distant engine start, and a trailer hitch. Moreover, a roof rack, all-weather floor mats, and a cargo bay mat are included at no extra cost.

Limited Availability and Pricing

With production set to begin in August, BMW is making roughly 1,000 units of the Silver Anniversary Edition, each priced at $81,175, which is about $12,000 greater than the usual X5 xDrive40i. Given the exclusivity and enhanced features of this model, it is predicted to be in high demand, and enthusiasts are advised to act quickly to secure one.

The 2025 BMW X5 Silver Anniversary Edition is a fitting tribute to a vehicle that has not only stood the test of time but has also continually evolved to fulfill the demands of luxury SUV buyers. As BMW celebrates 25 years of the X5, this special edition encapsulates the brand’s commitment to innovation, luxury, and performance.
